The article I choose to
analyze was entitled ‘Buick Regal Engine Brainpower is Industry’s
Quickest.' The article begins by simply telling us what exactly
their new technology is. They say “A 32-bit embedded processor with
three megabytes of integrated flash memory gives the 2011 Buick Regal’s Ecotec
2.0L engine microcontroller the quickest processing power, in the automotive
industry.” This breakthrough is guaranteeing the Regal driver better fuel
efficiency, as well as less emissions, and more precise fuel delivery.
Engine electronic controls have been growing rapidly in recent years to the
point where the new Regal has electronic controls over 12 aspects of the car,
including the transmission, climate control, and the braking system.
It is said a human has 3,000 thoughts a day, well Buick is claiming
their new 32 bit processor has 125 million thoughts a second. Through new
technology Buick making strides in manufacturing the fastest thinking cars on
the face of the earth. By giving their cars more control over itself
Buick is hoping to, among other things, reduce accidents as well as reduce
emissions across the industry.
Personally, I believe technology drives the world
and Buick is just the first of what will become many who produce essentially a
computerized automobile with such capacities to process and achieve so many
things, all simultaneously. Also, this isn’t the first time Buick
has introduced ca computerized system into their cars. In the 1980s,
Buick manufactured a four kilobyte control module that processed 1 million
operations per second. To me, this shows Buick’s dedication to
making their cars the smartest on earth. The fifth generation of the
Buick regal was released in 2009, with a new, sportier look. When
combined with the new, fuel efficient, eco-friendly electronically controlled
engine, I believe that is a recipe for success with young professionals. Having
class and a sporty look, I believe young people will be drawn to the new Regal,
with the engine as an added bonus or deal-maker. In addition to the
flashy look and the innovative engine, the price starts at only 26,670, a very
reasonable price for a young professional to wrap their wallets around. I
can only hope that other car manufactures will follow in Buick’s
footsteps. Having more cars on the road that produce less emissions
will help surge the recent “green” initiative and leave the world a better
place for generations to come.
I
think it will be interesting to see where not just Buick, but all car
manufactures go from here after such a high benchmark posted by Buick. But
all we know for now is that Buick has struck gold with its combination of looks
and efficiency with the new Regal. The new Buick Regal is just
another ounce of evidence that technology, when used correctly, can help solve
problems in an everyday economy, as well as doing it in style!
